Let’s face it, digital marketers are never really off the clock, even if it is a Friday evening, the weekend, or even a holiday! There is always that one post to publish, comments that need to be replied to, or complaints that need to be forwarded to clients.
So how do you keep connected without lugging around a laptop everywhere? The answer is of course, your smartphone, and the apps you install.
But which of the gazillion apps on the App Store and Play Store actually help you with your work? Let’s find out!
*This list does not include social media apps themselves such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc. as these are built to engage on the platform rather than for professional purposes.
Hootsuite
The first app on the list is one of the most popular scheduling software around. While Hootsuite does come with a complete set of social media management and analytics tools, it’s post scheduling aspect is the most useful ones out there.
At the moment, Hootsuite lets you schedule posts for multiple social media profiles and platforms including Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Instagram.
To be honest, it is a lot safer to create posts on the desktop version however the app is very handy to check whether posts have been scheduled.
Another extremely feature is being able to create custom views of any of your connected social media profiles, and then being able to view them all from this one app (as opposed to having to open the primary app per account).
Hootsuite is available for both Android and iOs.
Adobe Spark Post
Everyone has heard of Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator, but have you heard of Adobe Spark Post?
Often Social Media Managers and Content Writers need to rely on a Graphic Designer to create graphics for them and that’s where this app comes in handy.
Adobe Spark Post (previously just Adobe Spark) is an easy-to-use design software that is targeted towards social media users. This app uses built-in templates, and intuitive sliders to let you create beautiful posts with minimal technical knowledge.
The only con of this app is that to remove the watermark and personalize your designs, you need to subscribe on a monthly or yearly basis.
Note: There’s even an Adobe Spark Video for more video-focused editing if that’s more important for your business.
Adobe Spark Post is available for both Android and iOs.
Facebook Pages Manager
Facebook is the king of social media and it’s not surprising that they have a dedicated app for professionals to manage their pages with.
This app has all the tools to manage multiple pages and is almost as good as the desktop version. In some cases, it’s even better, e.g. being able to switch between pages with a few clicks.
To top it off, it also shows you insights, tracks promotions, stats and activities on your pages so you can take your business further, wherever you are.
Earlier we did talk about Hootsuite, but Facebook Pages Manager is much more powerful for managing Facebook Pages as it ties into the desktop version and gives you access to features such as your Instant Replies, or Label features. And as Facebook adds more features into the desktop version, the app will only become more useful in time.
Facebook Pages is available for both Android and iOs.
Google Analytics
Speaking of analytics, Google Analytics is a web and app analytics service provided by Google. Such insights are valuable and can prove to be very useful in planning content and further strategy for your business.
Similar to the desktop version, this mobile app lets you track multiple websites and lets you understand how the actions you take on various platforms affect user behaviour on your website.
It goes without saying that the Google Analytics app is a must-have for any marketer who manages a website.
Google Analytics is available for both Android and iOs.
Facebook Ads Manager
Facebook again? Yes!
Facebook is one of the cheapest and easiest digital advertising platforms available at the moment, and it is very likely that you are running or have run Facebook ads for your business. But did you know that you can manage your ads without having to sit on a computer?
Through this app, you can create, edit and manage ads for your business with powerful and efficient mobile ads tools. While there are some limitations the app definitely helps you reduce the need to always open your laptop to monitor your ads.
Facebook Ads Manager is available for both Android and iOs.

Some other apps which are useful for professionals but are focused on a single function include:
- Repost – For reposting images with credit on Instagram
- Later – For managing and scheduling on Instagram
